Originally an Exploration Geologist, Dan has also held roles in Finance, Risk & Compliance, Strategic Planning, Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Diversity & Inclusion for firms such as BNY Mellon, BP Exploration, Pfizer, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and AIG. He has been based in San Francisco CA, Anchorage AK, Houston TX, Aberdeen Scotland, London England, and now New York NY.
Most recently Dan was the Chief Learning Officer (CLO) for AIG, where he led the total transformation of AIG’s learning organization. This involves the alignment and consolidation of over 300 L&D staff in over 27 different organizations. He also modernized AIG’s approach to Learning & Development via the use of micro-learning, adaptive learning technologies and open-source content, while being guided by agile and design thinking principles. Prior to that, Dan was the Global Head of People Intelligence at BNY Mellon, a role which was established to improve the quality and sophistication of their talent management strategy and staff development processes. With accountability for Executive Coaching, Succession Planning, Talent Assessment, Employee Engagement, Competency Design, High Potential Programs, People Analytics and Strategic Workforce Planning.
In numerous roles over the last 20 years, Dan has led the development and delivery of a vast array of education programs for audiences ranging from entry level staff to senior executives. Dan led BNY Mellon’s learning transformation via the design of their newly launched Corporate University (BKU), centralizing over six thousand technical and non-technical learning programs and hundreds of learning staff. Dan has also led other major change/transformation programs including the people/culture component of the BP-Amoco merger. This included the global selection, deployment, and integration of BP-Amoco talent and culture. He has coached numerous senior executives and has supported the development of many high-performing teams.
