As organizations begin to, slowly, address life after the COVID-19 pandemic, leaders are seeing the need to find yet another new normal. Questions at the top of the list include:

  • Should everyone be back in the office, remote or a hybrid of the two?
  • What, if anything, should the organization do to reconnect employees and re-engage them in the current state of work?
  • Does the business have to make other changes to stay competitive and relevant?
  • How do we solve for the Great Resignation?

Learning and Development should continue, as it has become, to be a strategic partner to the business during these times.

In a video interview with John Ogren, Chief Learning Officer for the National Weather Service, Corporate Learning Network Editorial Manager Mason Stevenson asked how the agency is adapting and how it is focusing on the future. Below is Part 1 of the interview, were Stevenson asked Ogren about how the pandemic and society is impacting learning, what role Diversity, Equity and Inclusion play in L&D and what keeps him up at night as a learning leader?
