4:30 PM Workshop D: Transforming Learning Spaces to Enhance Student Learning

During this interactive workshop, the facilitators will share how Singapore American School is transforming traditional classroom spaces into more flexible learning environments that meet a wide variety of student learning needs and programs. In addition, workshop participants will begin to explore their own beliefs about learning spaces and how these beliefs influence the final design.  Participants will also look at different ways to approach renovating existing spaces in shorter time frames in order to minimise the disruption to student learning.

Key Learning Outcomes:
·         Designing new collaborative areas with flexibility in mind
·         Clearly defining the desired outcomes of the new space and determining ways to gather evidence
·         Engaging with stakeholders during the planning process and gathering feedback from stakeholders in the new space
·         Looking beyond the space: Aligning structures and pedagogical practices to the physical space
