Monique Chabot (Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, Boston University) is an occupational therapist with over 8 years of experience working with older adults in their homes, where she specialized in home design for seniors.
Since joining academia, she has expanded her specialty to include modifications for all environments that impact people’s independence, including classrooms. She works with Dr. Marie-Christine Potvin in a program at Thomas Jefferson University using her environmental and assistive technology knowledge to support the success of students with disabilities within different classroom spaces and disciplines of study. She has presented on environmental modification topics at peer-reviewed national conferences, and is currently involved in two pedagogical research studies involving assistive technology and international service learning experiences, respectively. She serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the Living in Place Institute and is the Young Professionals Coordinator for the Home and Community Health Special Interest Section with the American Occupational Therapy Association. She is a firm believer in the environment being supportive of all those who need to use the space.
