Laura Lucas thrives on collaborating with educators to
innovate new ways of encouraging curiosity and deep, long-term learning in
As the Learning Spaces Manager at St. Edward’s University, her charge
is to work with the campus community to develop and implement a cohesive,
university-wide vision for learning spaces that support a broad range of
approaches to teaching and learning both in and out of the classroom. Laura has
a background in instructional design and has taught undergraduate courses in
sociology, Mexican American studies, learning frameworks, and cultural
foundations at the University of Texas at Austin, Austin Community College, and
at St. Edward’s. She holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of
Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Rice University.
Outside of her work in higher education, Laura is a certified Jazzercise
instructor, avid reader, DIY enthusiast, and loyal patron of the Austin music
