Director, Innovative Learning Spaces and Special Projects Washington College
Adrian has been in education his whole life. After graduating from Washington College in 2007 with a degree in Biology and Secondary Education, Adrian taught 7th grade Life Science for 4 years. While teaching, Adrian’s focus shifted from teaching students to teaching teachers, mainly on the use of technology in the classroom. It was at this time that Adrian had opportunity to return to Washington College as an Instructional Technologist in the Academic Technology group. Working closely with faculty on best practices for integrating technology use into instruction, Adrian taught workshops, managed LMS questions, and offered an approach to technology integration that was firmly rooted in his teaching background.
During a time of change at Washington College, when the Academic Technology group, which had been part of IT, merged with the Library group, Adrian took on the role of Senior Project Manager. It was in this role that Adrian attended his first Next Generation Learning Spaces conference in February of 2015. This event, along with other changes at Washington College, sparked Adrian’s interest in learning spaces and the role they play in teaching and learning. This led to many more conversations and conferences over the next few years and ultimately led to a title change for Adrian to Director of Innovative Learning Spaces and Special Projects. It was also during this time that Adrian completed his Master’s degree in Applied Technology in Education.
When Adrian is not exploring new ways to make learning and learning spaces better at Washington College, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 young sons, fishing, running, and spending time with friends in good conversation.
