The CLW Academy is a comprehensive certificate program: Running Learning Like a Business aimed at learning and development professionals: practitioners, designers, facilitators, and future learning executives who want to enhance their skills and knowledge in various aspects of running learning initiatives effectively.

The academy provides a 2.5-day immersive experience that includes needs analysis, end to end learning experience design, workshops, case studies, interactive exercises, networking opportunities, and access to Corporate Learning Network resources. Participants will also have the chance to attend the opening keynote sessions of the Corporate Learning Week conference.

The academy focuses on key concepts that are crucial for learning leaders to understand and apply in their roles. These concepts include:

  • Running Learning Like a Business: Participants will learn how to apply business principles to the field of learning and development. This involves understanding the financial aspects, aligning learning goals with business objectives, and effectively managing resources.
  • Demonstrating Value: Participants will explore strategies for showcasing the value and impact of their learning programs and departments. This may involve developing metrics and measurement techniques to assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives and communicate their ROI (Return on Investment) to stakeholders.
  • Creating Impactful Learning Experiences: The academy emphasizes the importance of designing and delivering learning experiences that resonate with the end user. Participants will learn about instructional design principles, learner engagement techniques, and innovative approaches to enhance the learning process.
  • Learning Design: Participants will gain insights into the process of designing effective learning interventions. This may include understanding learning theories, identifying learning objectives, selecting appropriate instructional methods, and creating engaging content

David Vance is the Executive Director of the Center for Talent Reporting, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation and implementation of best practices and standards for human capital measurement, reporting and management. He is the former President of Caterpillar University, which he founded in 2001. Prior to this position, Dave was Chief Economist and Head of the Business Intelligence Group at Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for economic outlooks, sales forecasts, market research, competitive analysis and business information systems.

Dr. Tom Bigda-Peyton, Executive Director, Springboard Labs
Dr. Bigda-Peyton is a consultant, author, and expert on individual transition, organization design, and system transformation. He has led major change initiatives across multiple industries, including healthcare, government, and business, and social venture organizations. His clients have included Fidelity Investments, Lenscrafters, and Otis Elevator; Tufts University; the National Academy of Pediatrics; the Workplace Safety Ministry of British Columbia, the Ministry of Health, Province of Ontario, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
