Manager, Creative Learning Initiatives, Teaching and Learning with Technology Penn State University
worked at Penn State since 2007 in the Media Commons, a service
supporting all Penn State faculty, students, and staff in the use and creation
of digital media in the classroom, and now serves as the manager of Creative
Learning Initiatives in the Teaching and
Learning with Technology group. In this role he oversees the
Media Commons, Maker Commons,
and Immersive Experiences Lab,
all of which includes operating 25 multimedia experience labs at 21
Penn State campuses and leading a staff of multimedia specialists in providing
curriculum support for the use of multimedia and making technologies, and
implementing new innovative solutions like the One Button Studio,
on-demand 3D printing, rapid prototyping in the Invention Studio, and
immersive media like 360° video and augmented reality. Ryan has concentrated on
using digital storytelling and digital fluency as crucial components of the
21st century classroom. Ryan has a BA in Digital Video and Media Production
from Juniata College and is completing a masters in Media Studies at Penn State’s
College of Communications.
